We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams . . .
yet we are the movers and shakers of the world forever, it seems

We are still here
Sorry about the late blog update. Turns out it is MUCH easier to post pictures to facebook, so I have been doing that instead! If you are desperate for more Hynes family, just make mikey or I your friend on facebook, and you can see all you want! In the meantime, here are some pics from the last month!
The first is from Lucy's first kindergarten field trip! they went to the firestation across the street. Elliott and Lucy both loved it.
Now on to Halloween! Can you guess who they are? I love how pretty Lucy feels, and how into character Elliott is!
That about covers it...fun times at the Hynes Home!

School Time
Here are pictures of our August! First are Lucy's MAMMOTH sunflowers. I really have never seen sunflowers so huge, and I have seen some big sunflowers.
Then we have some of Lucy's first day of kindergarten. No tears from her, she didn't even wave to us from the bus! She just said goodbye at the stop, stepped on and was off! The last picture is of her after school--she was pretty happy.
Then, we have Elliott helping mow the lawn. Scary, but cute.
Lucy's new favorite thing is my eyeliner. I thought it was so cute when she put it on and then was "talking" on her phone. She was so serious! I just imagine her 10 years older with the same expression on her face!
We have a neighborhood party every year for "national night out", and I am the resident face painter--Elliott is getting an orange moon on his cheek.
Dr. Elliott makes an appearance, and then we get Elliott's crazy hair. he loves "hair goo", and he loves doing his own hair. This time, he did his hair and came running in proudly to tell me that his hair looked like daddy's hair. Not bad, and he's only 3! He loves his daddy, and decided that when Mikey was washing his motorcycle, it was a good time for him to wash his wheels as well--photo op! That about covers it...enjoy!

The Wilson family and Hynes family (together, we are the Hylesons!) just had another great camping trip to Deadwood Lake! For all you Arizonians, this lake is only 3 hours away, and it is paradise! don't you wish YOU too lived in Boise? Come on up, we'll take ya! We got to swim every day, fish, and have tonz o'fun! The other picture is off some goods Heather and I pulled together for a great impromptu bbq the other night....it is all from our gardens! WHAT FUN! See ya soon!

Family Fun
Lucy lost her first tooth!! It wiggled for a few days, and then she was showing me how far she could twist it an dit just fell out in the middle of sacrament meeting!! YAY! We just got back from our family reunion in Bear Lake, Ut, and we had so much fun! I am going to include tonz of pictures from that. I have to tell just one story! Lucy and I were getting breakfast ready the other morning. I poured my cereal, then went to the bathroom. When I got back, I poured the milk and sat down to eat; right next to Lucy. I reached for my first bite and found that I had a fork instead of a spoon! Lucy burst into laughing hysterically and said she switched them while I was out! That is officially her first prank, Mikey and I are so proud!

yes, I love summer!!
This is my garden! it is finally growing now that the heat has set in and the rain has finally taken a break!! We have eaten some peas, blueberries, strawberries, onions, thyme, basil and green and wax beans already! We are still waiting on the tomatoes, watermelon, beets, edamame, blackberries and hot peppers though! This is our little trip to Emmett for the cherry picking. We get to do this every year and we love it! This year, with just the 5 of us, we picked 34 pounds of cherries!!! Yum, Yum! Elliott ate all he could handle . . . I don't think one cherry made it into his bucket.
We also got to pick strawberries at a local farm to make YUMMY strawberry jam. That had a fun hayride and good eats too.
Finally, we took a trip to visit the parents in Pocatello this week and had so much fun, as usual. Ruth and baby Karver were there, and so were the Wilson's (actaully, we followed them there!) We got our eyebrows waxed, did Biore strips, painted our nails, ped-egged our feet, it was all around fun! Elliott wanted in on the action too, so I had to oblige. We also went to see Up! in 3-D and got some super-cool shades. And, that is our super-cool summer so far!

summer fun times!
Here are a bunch of photos to sum up the fun we've been having this summer! I tried something new with my sister Heather: pickling!! We went wild asparagus picking twice, and into the mountains to pick "kosari" (fiddle-head fern), and we pickled both of those. We have been camping again, with the Wilson's this time, and it was super-fun! No wild animal sightings this time. The kids both finished their semesters at the Little gym, Lucy in her cheerleading class, and Elliott in his sports class. Lucy graduated from preschool and is onto kindergarten in the fall!! Lucy used a sharp knife to cut mushrooms! I threw a birthday party for my father-in-law, and made "jockey cake" for him--an old family favorite. Here ya go, Enjoy.
