Family Reunion: Day 6

Day 6: Thursday...our last day in Plainview. We checked out of the hotel around 11am, then headed to Plainview to spend the day at Grandma's, and dinner at the Dessner's. Great-Grandpa Paul's grave is within walking distance of Great-Grandma Joan's house, so we were able to walk there and experience some nostalgia. Mikey really loved his Grandpa Paul, so it was very special to go and do that.

Cousin Tonya painted Lucy's nails, and let her color in her ENORMOUS coloring book... Lucy felt like the luckiest girl in the world! We had more fun on the trampoline...everything's more fun when Daddy plays along. On that same note, Dad decided to help out Uncle Darrel by taking the kids around on the 4-wheeler. It was his first time driving and he did very well.

My Grandpa Johnson used to live in Minneapolis (that's where my dad was born), and he worked at Lakeside Foods. It is still around, so we took this picture in his memory.

Then it was time for goodbyes. What a wonderful time we had getting to know our family! We REALLY didn't want to leave them, and I think they kinda liked us too. I

I wanted to document each part of this trip, so these last pictures are of the kids at our Rochester hotel. Elliott chose his own pose...I don't know what he's doing, but he thought it was very cute. He was right.

On a side note, the hotel we were staying at was simultaneously hosting a K-9 tournament, dog show thing. Super cool for Elliott. We got to see plenty of officers, and amazing dogs too. The downside was the incessant barking throughout the night. I guess some officers didn't check their dogs in with them, and left them in their cars, in the parking lot, right outside our room, with the open window. Oh well, it was all part of the adventure!

Elliott is a smart kid, that pose is pretty darn cute! Careful with those 4-wheelers! :)
